What is Newman Heights?

Newman Heights is a fully furnished off campus, student apartment facility located across the street from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The property is owned by St. Augustine University Parish and managed by BMOC, Inc.

Do I have to be Catholic to live at Newman Heights?

No, there are no religious requirements to living at Newman Heights. Everyone is welcome to practice their own beliefs without question and judgement.

Are there requirements to living in Newman Heights?

UW Platteville students must abide by the University of Wisconsin System Residency Requirement stating that all first and second year students must live on campus. Other students not associated with the University taking at least 1 credit of post-secondary education can qualify. Additionally, interns, recent graduates, faculty and staff of a post-secondary institution are also eligible to live at Newman Heights.

Is alcohol allowed on the property?

Yes, alcohol is allowed in Newman Heights. If consumers are of legal drinking age, they are welcome to consume in a lawful and responsible manner.

Is there a curfew that I need to follow?

There is no curfew enforced for living at Newman Heights. The building is secured 24/7 with electric key fob entries. Residents are welcomed to come and go as they please.

Are units single gendered?

Yes, all units will be separated by gender. The exception would be for married couples and for parents with minor children.

Do I need to bring roommates if I want to live in the 4-bedroom layout?

We can accommodate groups as well as provide roommate matchings for individuals and partial groups.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, pets are allowed in Newman Heights. All cats are welcome and dogs under fifty pounds and over one year of age are welcome. ($200 pet fee & $20 pet rent) Service and emotional support animals have no additional rent costs.

Will there be onsite staff?

Newman Heights does have on site management. The Property Manager and Leasing Director are available in their offices during regular business hours. There are part time student positions including Maintenance and Community Assistants who help manage the front desk and assist in leasing efforts.

When do I need to pay my security deposit?

Security deposit payments are not due until the day of move in. However, if one wishes to pay early they can through the online resident portal or by check/money order.

Can I pay using financial aid?

We do work with Financial Aid with the added benefit that first and second months’ rent will be differed. Once the resident gets a disbursement, they then have the flexibility for paying for the whole semester in a lump sum payment. The security deposit is due at move in.

Can I move in early?

Early arrivals can be accommodated for any resident who has an obligation to return early (ex. athletics, job trainings, etc.) at no additional cost as long as their unit is available.

What are the average utility payments?

Gas and electric bills vary due to individual usage. However, in our 4-bedroom layouts we see bills around $10-$15 per person, studios range $18-$30.
